Hospitality, the foundation on which the edifice of Gujarat tourism is built, is indigenous to Gujarat. Gujarat sends largest number of travelers to almost every corner of the world. But its strength to be host has not been fully utilized due to the lack of information highway. Gujarat Tourism offers colorful experience to its travelers packed with pleasant surprises – endowed with forests and deserts, hills and plains, sea and lakes, tribal hinterlands and special interest destinations with a strong rail, road and air network.

Situated on the western coast of the Indian subcontinent covering an area of 1,96,026 sq.km., the state of Gujarat has been transformed into an industrial power-house during the last three decades reducing its dependence on agriculture and textiles. Although the population of Gujarat is only about 5% of India, it accounts for 10% of India’s consumption, 16% of total exports and 30% of total stock market capitalization. Gujarat accounts for 6% of India’s GDP and the State Domestic Production (SDP) stands at around US $12 bn. One of the most vibrant states, the economy of Gujarat registered a growth rate of 17.6% between 1990-91 to 1997-98.
